A small point - when I set tool tips with this component they are not appearing.

It seems to be a problem with the .NET framework. In applications generated with MS Visual.NET it is not working either. Possibly this may be addressed by the forthcoming MS .NET 2005. We will log this for rechecking with the new framework.
