Hiya,

Getting an error when launching (Licensed) v2:

'Synopsis.exe - Common Language Runtime Debugging Services

Application has generated an exception that could not be handled.

Process id=0x8fc (2300), Thread id=0xdfc (3580).

Click OK to terminate the application.
Click CANCEL to debug the application.'

Any ideas? I was sooo getting ready to play with the new version!

Cheers,

Luis.

Luis,

That error comes from the Microsoft .NET Framework and likely indicates that some dependent framework DLL is missing, corrupted or of the wrong version.

Please check if you recently installed software on your machine that you think could have affected .NET.

Is it possible that you try reinstalling .NET Framework?

Hope that this helps.

Same goes for me.

<rant>
This .net problem is getting really old. I would really like Codemorphis to sort this out for good. I have hundreds of app's that use .net and Synopsis is the only one with this problem. You really need to find out what is so fragile here.
<rant>

Please let me know if I can help. Send me an NDA if you need to and then let's gut this thing and find the problem.

waveterm,

This is actually a fairly common issue with the .NET Framework, especially for very complex applications. Listed on the Microsoft MSDN site are many separate issues with exactly this problem for a wide variety of applications:

http://search.microsoft.com/results.aspx?q=%22Application+has+generated+an+exception+that+could+not+be+handled%22&qsc0=0&FORM=QBME1&l=1&mkt=en-US&PageType=99

The frequent suggestion by Microsoft and others is to reinstall the .NET Framework and/or apply a higher version.

You could help by trying this on your machine.

The difficulty in determining this issue is that it is a result of the setup environment of users' machines. Since we cannot be in front of your machine to try to diagnose the problem it is hard to guess what the remedy should be, since we cannot reporduce this issue on any of our test machines.

If you would like to help, you could try running the Dependency Walker tool, which can be downloaded here http://www.dependencywalker.com. It allows you to trace through the startup of an application and help to identify which Dll(s) are missing in the Windows system and .NET Framework or are corrupt.

If you can manage this, it would provide a lot of information to help determine the problem.

Thanks,

We think that we may have found and fixed the issue.

Synopsis 2.0 license holders: Please uninstall your current installation of Synopsis 2.0 and then re-download and install the product from your CodeMorphis account (click the My Account link at the top right of the home page and select your order. You can then download the updated install file).

Trial license holders: Please re-download and install the demo version of Synopsis 2.0.

Again, sorry to all users for any inconvenience.

Congratulations!

That works for me.

Would you mind sharing what area the problem was found in?

I did run dependency walker and I don't think that it revealed anything useful, so I'm wondering how you located the problem.

Thanks for the fast work. I'm gonna go play now Very Happy
