I've loaded the BabelFish Translation SPC and the B&N SPC.
Had a quick look and like the feature of being able to load components.

I was wondering what the process is (or will be)for making these SPC components?

SCPs (Software Component Packages) contain one or more components that as you saw, are dynamically loadable in Synopsis.

Once loaded into Synopsis, the components behave as any other.

SCPs allow for the release of new components in between releases of Synopsis and for future third-party developers to add components in Synopsis as plug-ins.

The creation of SCPs is done using traditional programming techniques. In a subsequent release of Synopsis there will also be a feature to export a portion of your program as an SCP.

For more advanced users, a separate tool for creating SCPs outside the Synopsis environment will become available.

Hope that this helps. Don't hesitate to ask if you have more questions.

Another method by which other software components can be "plugged-into" Synopsis is by way of the DLL Function Call component, available from the System tab of the Component Tray.

The DLL Function Call component allows you to connect to an externally develped DLL file (.dll extension) and reuse functionality in the DLL.

This lets you integrate Synopsis into your existing software toolsets and avoid reinventing the wheel.

To see an example of the use of the DLL Function Call component, load and run the source file IntPtr.vpd found in the "Sample Programs" subdirectory of the Synopsis installation.
